Cruisers are not allowed to leave the property - the site is fenced off from the surrounding area and food available to travelers is brought from the ships. Controlled Haitian merchants are given the sole rights to sell merchandise and establish businesses in the resort. Though sometimes described in advertisements as an island, Labadee is actually a peninsula contiguous with Hispaniola Island. The cruise ships moor to the pier at Labadee which was completed in late 2009 and is capable of servicing Oasis-class ships. Because Labadde is an area for the exclusive use of Royal Caribbean cruise ships and its sister brands, private online services and local tour operators do not offer shore excursions in Labadee.

There are five beaches at Labadee, so it is a good idea to figure out which one you want to visit before you step off the ship. Amiga Island is secluded and consists of only one bar, restrooms, hammocks, sunbeds, and shaded areas where you can relax. The island is a true gem and small, so you can walk around it in 10 minutes. You can also snorkel in some parts, but make sure you bring your snorkel gear because you cannot rent it on the island.

She supposedly set up a trading post and tavern to serve visiting ships and their crews. You'll find homages to both — Nellie's Outpost and Nellie's Tavern — on-site during your visit. We have suspended all visits to Labadee fleetwide through May 2024, and we continue to monitor the situation with our Global Security & Intelligence team. Please know that the safety and comfort of our guests are always our highest priority. We are committed to keeping you informed, and itinerary modifications are being communicated directly to guests ahead of their sailings.

Labadee also has some adrenalin rides including an alpine roller coaster and one of the longest zip-lines over water anywhere in the world. Head to Dragon's Rock Café, Labadee Café and Columbus Café for flavor-filled lunch buffets that offer all kinds of global dishes and easy-to-eat snacks. Every bite is complementary for cruise guests, so you can try a little bit of everything if you're in the mood for a round-the-world feast.

One guest favorite is the Dragon's Breath Flight Line, half a mile of exhilarating zip line over sea and jungle. And then there's its sister ride, the Dragon's Fire Flight Line, which lets you soar through the air headfirst like a superhero. Labadee is a regularly visited port of call on Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries during the Fall-Winter season. Most cruises calling at Labadee depart from Miami or Orlando, visiting one or two other ports like CocoCay, Nassau, Key West, Falmouth, or Grand Cayman.

Beach lounging is also a popular activity at Labadee, and visitors can relax on the beautiful white sand beaches that line the peninsula. The resort features four beaches—Adrenaline Beach, Columbus Cove, Nellie’s Beach, and Barefoot Beach—each offering its own character and distinct experience. Zip-lining is one of the most popular activities at Labadee—with over 2,800 feet of line, the resort features what was once the longest zipline over water in the world. The Dragon’s Breath zip-line starts 450 feet atop a hill and takes visitors on a thrilling ride over the water, providing breathtaking views of the surrounding area.
Want to check out the island at fast speeds for a heart-pumping excursion? This tour will take you along the coast of the entire island, and not just the peninsula of Labadee, but the island of Hispaniola itself. If you would like to travel further out, there’s a tram that is available to take you to different areas. Each area is marked, much like a bus stop, which makes it easy for cruisers to see the stops and be able to get to and from their tour or excursion easily.
Don’t forget to take your beach towel ashore as there are no towel stations in Labadee. If you want to stretch your legs, the resort has paved trails that are color coded. There’s a Leisure walk (green), Moderate walk (amber) and Strenuous Walk (red).

In 2019, 160 cruise ships spent a day at Labadee with 720,000 passengers (and crew) enjoying the resort facilities. Labadee is on the north coast of Haiti, 32 miles (51.3 km) west of the Dominican Republic. The closest cruise port to Labadee is Grand Turk, around 134 miles (215 km) to the north. However, the Grand Turk cruise terminal is a Carnival Corporation development, and Royal Caribbean cruise ships do not include it in their itineraries.
But if you're looking to experience the tropics like a true VIP, there's nothing like private island vacations. These wanderlust-worthy experiences are what travel dreams are made of. Although the private resort is fenced off from Haiti, 100's of local residents are employed by Royal Caribbean to work at the resort. Surelly, measures to prevent Coronavirus in Labadee will be implemented and enforced prior to cruise ships docking.
It is not cheap ($95 per guest at last check), but it delivers some really impressive views down one of the longest zip lines over the ocean in the world. Which beach you pick can depend on a lot of factors, especially what time you arrive at the beach. Crowds will build as the day progresses and most guests tend to fill spots closest to the dock first, extending out towards Adrenaline Beach and Columbus Cove.
Labadee is a privately operated island, and you’ll be tendered ashore from your cruise ship onto the islands for a day of beachy delights, barbeque, and family fun. Beach chairs are complimentary for visitors, and it’s easily navigable thanks to shuttle services and walkable beaches. Find some great shore excursions and things to do while visiting this exclusive port. Labadee, Haiti is Royal Caribbean’s private cruise resort with all the beach attractions, watersports, and fun activities that cruisers look forward to.
